| So, we have a new puppy. His name is Loki, and he's a German Shepherd. He is cute and 9 or 10 weeks now. He likes to pee everywhere. He's very sneaky about it too. Still he is fun to have and Vala likes him enough to not kill him. This is good because he is 15 lbs. (I dunno what that is in kilos for you non-American folks) and Vala is 75 lbs. Yes, Vala (aka Wiggle Butt cause her butt wiggles when she walks esp when she's happy) who is only 8 months old is 75 lbs. She is tiny bit overweight, so we cut her food a little, and now she has another dog to burn calories with. We're hoping Loki will bond with Danielle cause Vala likes me better and she was supposed to be Danielle's dog. I sent mom some pics, if you want them ask her, and maybe I'll upload em sometime. Also, we just got a new laptop, a Mac which is nice, takes a little adjusting, even for me since I haven't used one in a while, but we like it. Btw, Bumblebee is not a Japanese robot, he's a transformer and he's cool. (We're watching Transformers for the 5th time I think, I must say it's my favorite movie) I also just bought a gun so I can shoot stuff now, if I can find a good place to.
Two days ago we had a huge storm here, dad said the weather said up to 48mph gusts of wind, I certainly believe it. It blew the plexi-glass out of the window above our a/c (in the other room) and so at 3 am I go in there and pull the a/c out and just close the window, half the room was just soaked though cause we didn't wake up right away. We lost power too, and of course I only had a crank flashlight. So yesterday we went out, when we could, and bought some more flashlights, that use batteries and a camping lantern (batteries). Of course since we're in the military and they don't always communicate perfectly I had already left for pt when somebody made the call that duh we can't have pt. Well I had already tried to go to work but got turned around by the cops about 2 miles from the house cause of downed trees and power lines all over. It took out a bunch of trees all over, and in our neighborhood. One landed in our next door neighbor's driveway, his car wasn't in it, fortunately. I took Vala for a walk, we saw the damage, our street sign was missing the top little green thing and up the road a bit some kids at made a fort out of all the fallen brush, reminded me of being a kid. So I had some breakfast bars and then later BBQ'd some chicken noodle soup and macaroni & cheese for lunch, steak and corn for dinner cause we didn't get power back until around midnight. There's still downed power lines, we just go back and along the road there were power lines laying on the side of the road or just barely off of the road - I'm sure their quick fix to get us power. We didn't work yesterday or today which was nice.
The last bit of news is that I got some mail today - from the Social Security administration. It tells me that I have paid lots into a broken system and I'll never see any of it. Actually it really says that - says in 2017 money out will be more than money in and by 2041 there won't be any money left. So, while I'm sure grandpa is benefiting from this system, could I stop paying? I'll just send him a check for what I'd pay every month instead.

| So there's a pretty big fire here, this first pic is what it looks like from the end of my road, the second is up closer. I'd say its less than 10 miles from us. There is a hurricane headed our way, but its losing strength, and headed just south of the island, so we may not get any rain from it up on the north side where this fire is. The winds from the hurricane though are fanning that fire right up the mountain. There's a few more pics and a video that I've uploaded just go to my pics/videos area.

| So yesterday I went on a hike with a few friends, I looked this one up on the internet and after taking google directions (which weren't the best, but were more fun than going the easy way cause we got to take this road that is dubbed "13 turns" that I had just heard about on Thursday from some motorcyclists) we got there and found out that this was quite a popular hike. 2.5 miles later, we got to this waterfall, and swam, and then Richard and I jumped from ever increasing heights. The first precarious one was maybe 20 ft, but to get there you literally had to rock climb along the side of the cliff hugging the cliff, and I have bare, wet feet. I did this twice, and then decided I had to go to the top to the one that must be well over 30 ft, if not 50, but its hard to judge distance when you're looking down and the only thought in your mind is, "this is not about to be the smartest thing I've done all week." However I eventually summoned the nerve, and jumped, man it was fun and I didn't hit the bottom or anything, years and years of the waterfall has hollowed out a lot it seems. The person flying through the air is me, and I jumped from a good ways out of the picture. The other 2 pics are looking two different directions from a peak we got to before we descended to the falls. | | |
